Solar Garden Lights are the Perfect Choice to transform your garden, patio area and the walkways leading to your home. The exciting news is since they have become so popular in the last 8 – 10 years your choices have increased substantially. Setting solar lights up can be as simple as poking a stake into the ground where you want the light to be. And, if you tire of the layout, it’s simple to pull them up and place them somewhere else. You are not limited due to buried cables or electrical boxes.
Newer Styles of Solar Garden Lights
The newer styles of solar garden lights will normally come with a light-sensor included. This means they will go on when dusk arrives and go off in the morning. If you prefer to have control over the operation you can search for solar garden lights that have manual over-ride switches or timers.
Now you can decide on the type and style of solar garden light you would like to use in each location. For instance, solar garden lights that focus the beam downward would be great to line a walkway or path while styles that have a flood pattern would be better in and around the garden. You can find solar garden lights that hang, recessed lights for steps to your deck, solar lights that fit on top of your deck rail, post lights and even solar flood lights. Oh, and don’t forget rope lights which can be laid flat to line a driveway or wrapped around fence rails or trees. Since many of these these lights do not need any wiring your choice of location is only limited by the sun. You will have to be certain they are placed in locations that receive adequate amounts of sunlight to be sure they work during the night.
Individual solar lights or a set?
There may be times when you prefer to use a set of solar lights rather than individual lights. Remember, single lights are already complete with the solar panel, light sensor, led light and battery. A set of solar garden lights will have one solar panel and the lights will be connected by wires (which will have to be buried). The one advantage to this type of solar garden light is the lights themselves can be set in shady areas as long as the solar panel receives sunlight throughout the day.
Choosing your solar garden lights
Keep in mind that although you can buy solar garden lights for as little as $2.50 each, the better the quality the better the performance. I did some research before I purchased to make sure I got the best quality for a reasonable price. Remember, you will not be adding to your electric bill since this is free energy.
Care of your solar garden lights
Solar garden lights do require some care. Although they are weather and water resistant if you live in a part of the country that has harsh winters it would be best to bring them inside. You should check the solar panel itself for dust and debris and wipe them down with a wet cloth if necessary. The LED lights should work for years and years but the re-chargeable battery may need replacing eventually. Your solar garden light set should have information on any care that is needed for your particular style so take a minute and read it.
I know if you take the plunge and invest in solar garden lights you too will be able to “Light up the Night”!
